Moving into a new home with a wood-burning or multi-fuel stove can feel like a real bonus. A beautiful stove often becomes the heart of the room, ready for cosy evenings and winter warmth.

That said, when you have inherited an appliance from a previous owner, it is always sensible to have it professionally inspected before regular use. A stove may look the part, but that does not always mean it has been installed correctly, maintained properly, or is safe to operate.

Our Homeowner’s Safety Inspection is designed to give you clarity, confidence and peace of mind.

What the inspection includes:

• Initial visual inspection of the installation to assess compliance with current regulations, including Building Regulations Approved Document J and relevant standards
• Detailed inspection of the stove/appliance and its internal components
• CCTV flue inspection to examine the condition of the chimney and identify any faults, damage or potential defects
• Full professional chimney sweep to remove soot, debris and blockages
• Flue smoke draw test to assess the performance and draw of the chimney
• Professional guidance and advice on how to light, operate and maintain the appliance safely and efficiently, including suitable fuels and correct fuel storage

After the inspection

On completion, we will provide a Certificate of Inspection outlining:

• The checks carried out
• The condition of the appliance and flue
• Any safety concerns identified
• Any remedial work or recommendations required to help bring the installation in line with current regulations
